Days 12 through 18 - Morgan Hill, California

Here we are in Morgan Hill ready to hang out with the junior high & high school grads, Sam. Moved to Coyote Valley RV Resort to be near the Hogen-Esches.



Last year, they said if we plugged in the car, it would destroy not only our car, but the park's electrical system as well. (We plugged in anyway when the day shift went home and nothing happened, of course). This year, "Go ahead and plug in. No problem." Now they charge $5 a day, but when I went to pay it, they said we were regulars and didn't have to pay it. I love it when people figure out the truth. We could use so much more of that these days.

This whole trip so far, we were able to plug in on every stop, except where there was no 50 amp or no electrical at all (like Hooch's).

Anyhow, once in Morgan Hill, it was time to go to the graduation.

So, the graduation party was June 7th as Sam's graduation was Friday, the 6th. 

I was at Sam's graduation, but here's what I got when I held the camera up in the bright sun and took a shot toward the stage. I had no idea what I got until we got in the shade. Good thing others took pictures with Sam actually in the shot. I think if you look hard, you can see a wing of a drone on the left.



Anyhow, here is Sam playing "Vanna" and presenting the spread for her party. So much food! And it was almost all eaten by the end of the day--certainly by the end of the trip.


Audrey graduated from middle school and will be attending Ann Sobrato, the HS Sam graduated from.

Sam will be going to UC Santa Barbara. Beautiful place.



Of course, Vernon made her a quilt and as usual, it's beautifully made with lots of love.

After the party things calmed down a bit and although everyone had to work, we managed to get in some visiting. Everyone was already taking lots of vacation time to go look at colleges with Sam, Scout things with Audrey, and bring Hayden home from Michigan (MSU). 

We still managed to get in some quality time with everyone, including going for walks with Sam to one of her favorite coffee shops where she introduced us to her favorites. 

Audrey will now be in High School, Sam will be starting her first Freshman year at UC Santa Barbara, Hayden will be in his third year at MSU and August will be completing his final year at Cal Poly. I can't believe how grown everyone is and seemingly so fast.

 (June 13 - 15) It's a rough life here at " Surf Outpost " Turns out that this is the very park where Roger lived in a tent with his former wife, Jane and Shane & Bejan, when they were little (they are in their mid-forties now) when they moved to California from Texas. There are literally no campgrounds in LA (at least none that take transients like us.) So oh well, we'll just have to put up with Malibu. AND our family and friends seem to have no problem meeting us at the beach. Day 24 - California to Arizona - 249 miles

I made an omelette that I prepared the night before. So all I had to do is pour it in the hot pan. Using the two-burner induction cooktop made it fast and easy. Armed with coffee for him and tea for me, we headed out early with 100% state of charge. So we could try to get to the next stop early enough to see the meteor crater at our next stop. The day started out pretty nice We were happily traveling down the road when... Something was wrong. We had to pull over on the highway. Roger got out and I went back to grab the traffic cones to keep cars away while we investigated. I could tell already that it not a small thing. I thought, "okay, THIS is our challenge for this trip. We'll be okay." The first thing I noticed was black melted stuff on the side of the trailer. Then I looked down and saw something I think I have never seen before. Our tire had completely exploded! Day 26 - Albuquerque to Clovis New Mexico - 233 miles

 A nice, short day.  Stop 1   - 128 miles Santa Rosa, New Mexico - elevation 4567 feet 2516 US Rte 66, Santa Rosa We only had to stop once since we left with 100%, very little elevation rise, and will be able to charge in Clovis.  Since we have only 100 miles to go, we stopped at the Billy the Kid Museum in Ft. Sumner, NM <-- Pancho Villa and some chick Ancient Chinese or Columbian relic? The sign you see was for the item on top of the case. Nothing on the statue in the case. Horse-drawn hearse Old stove from early 20th century Some old stuff with a smoke stand exactly like one we have, only without the electric lighter More Pancho... There were large hallway-ish places with all kinds of old, interesting stuff We spent a lot of time trying to figure out the rhyme or reason for some of this stuff FINALLY, at least something of an outlaw, but yet to find any Billy the Kid stuff at the Billy the Kid Museum.
